Ophelia Dos Santos x Rosie Evans
Rosie Evans is a Welsh sustainable fashion brand, aiming to inspire customers to shop consciously. With corsets created from second-hand vintage and scrap fabrics, I've been fan-girling Rosie's work for a while now!
The collaboration is part Rosie's SS20 collection, and is 1/3 of the 'Tarot' corsets (the two other pieces are 'The Star of Fortune' and 'The Fools Justice'). The embroidery artwork was created on deadstock silk dupion, including up-cycled glass beads bought from a scrap store here in Cardiff. Embroidery techniques include, long and short stitch, satin stitches and beading. With the sun, clouds and Adam and Eve features on a raised surface (using appliqué). The ribbon framing the embroidery was also from the scrap store.

I don't normally use this style of embroidery in my own work (best described as a more traditional style) because it can be very time consuming - especially with the fine beading detail. However, it was nice to challenge myself and work outside my comfort zone. I'm going to try using this style more often, with my own illustrations and designs.
